Description

Type: Multi-day activity
* Zen is a teaching based on contemplation and meditative practices that ultimately lead to the main goal of Buddhists – Enlightenment. Zen is a state of awakening, understanding the world order. This is the knowledge of the depths of one's own essence, the calming of the mind, the release of energy – complete freedom. The Kalmyks carried Buddhism with them in their mobile monasteries. This combination of tents and stationary huruls exists among the Oirats to this day. In 1917, there were 5,270 monks and 105 huruls in Kalmykia itself. The main monastery was the Khosheut khurul, located about 70 km north of Astrakhan. Its abbot bore the title "Shajin Lama of the Kalmyks." In the early years of the beginning of the restoration of the teaching, there was not a single Buddhist temple. All of them were destroyed during the persecution or rebuilt and given to public needs. Currently, everything has changed: now there are more than 20 khuruls in Kalmykia. Kalmyks are an original people, and it is impossible to find another one like them. We have defended the right to practice our religion. We have carried culture through decades of oppression and are actively reviving it today. Young people enthusiastically learn their native language and embrace traditions. If you come to Kalmykia, you will feel a sharp difference in the atmosphere with other regions. Everything here is saturated with Buddhism and the charm of the steppes. You'll look at people and see only a sincere smile on their faces, and calmness in their eyes.

Organizer
