Varlaamo-Khutyn Monastery: You will learn the history associated with the name of the monastery, learn about the extraordinary path of St. Barlaam of Khutyn. You will visit the grave of the famous poet and statesman of the 18th century Gavriil Derzhavin. You can climb the holy hill and drink healing water from the well. St. George Monastery: Then we will go to the southern outskirts of the city and here, on the banks of the Volkhov River, you will visit the spiritual center of the Novgorod Republic. You will learn the origin story of St. George's Cathedral, one of the oldest surviving monuments of Russian architecture, and find out what contribution Karl Rossi himself made to the artistic ensemble.
