The house of the foreigner S. Jacobs
Detailed description
The house was built in 1852. The project was created by Academician of Architecture G.M. Bartsch together with Academician of Architecture M.V. Webel. This house was designed as an apartment building and all the premises of the building were used to the maximum. The four-storey house was divided into identical two-room apartments. Such building projects had not existed before. It is known that Leo Tolstoy rented an apartment in this house for a short time. The exterior of the house of the "foreigner S. Jacobs" has remained unchanged to the present day.
