* Montparnasse, literally translated as the hill "Parnassus", in the image of the ancient Greek Mount Parnassus, the monastery of the muses — this is how students called this quarter in the 17th century, who came here to recite their poems and speeches. The memory of former Paris is an integral part of today's Paris. The Montparnasse quarter will take us back to the "crazy years" — the era between two wars, the First and the Second World War, when Paris was walking, dancing, having fun, brawling and creating! The poor bohemians fought for their existence here, and the nouveau riche squandered money. Writers were looking for a way out of mental depression and fresh inspiration, artists were looking for money customers and beautiful models, rich Americans were looking for a charge of creative atmosphere and new talents. Currents and styles that entered the history of 20th century art were created here, it was here that the flow of American dollars poured in pursuit of the creations of fashionable artists, and patronage became an attribute of luxury. The legendary cafes of the Rotonda, Kupol, and Select quarters still remember their famous visitors – Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Amedeo Modigliani, Fujita, Guillaume Appoliner, Andre Breton, Peggy Guggenheim, Gertrude Stein, Chaim Soutine, Marc Chagall, and even two Vladimirs – Lenin and Mayakovsky. We will take a walk with you through all the epic places of the quarter, visit many celebrities, visit the atelier of artists, visit famous cafes and walk along Gaite Street, famous for its numerous theaters. Let's admire the diverse architecture of the quarter and, of course, see the famous Montparnasse Tower — a 58–storey skyscraper with an extraordinary view of the Eiffel Tower.
