Bolshoe Imereti Lake (Lake of Silence) is the largest lake in the Caucasus Biosphere Reserve. It is located in a huge circus at an altitude of 2,530 meters above sea level and covers an area of 190 thousand square meters. It's hard to imagine these scales without seeing it at least once. But it will take you more than an hour to walk around the lake along the shore.
The lake has the shape of a giant drop stretched from north to south. It is also one of the most beautiful lakes in the reserve. A massive rocky island 30 meters from the eastern shore with steep, steep shores and overgrown with grass gives the lake a special flavor and recognition. At different heights, just above Lake Silence, there are several other very beautiful, unusual and different-sized and colored lakes that will also not leave you indifferent. These are the lakes of Bush, Celestial, Geographers, Humanoid, Impact.
The best time to hike these lakes is from July to October. The route can be completed in 3 days, but then you simply will not have time to see all the beauties of this protected area and you will have to go with a backpack all the days. If you have time, you can go for 5 days, slowly visit all the hidden lakes of the Imereti mountain hub, take a bunch of wonderful pictures and enjoy the beauty of the mountains and lakes to your heart's content. But the best option is a 4-day tour, in which you can do everything in time, having a full day for walking.

Only for participants arriving at the airport/railway station in Stavropol, Mineralnye Vody.
Arrival of the group in Stavropol, Mineralnye Vody. Meeting at the airport / train station, transfer by comfortable bus to the village of Mostovskaya (3.5 hours, 260 km) and check-in at the hotel. It is possible to relax in the thermal pools. Overnight at the hotel.
Early breakfast and departure from the hotel of the group that arrived yesterday from Minvody. Participants from other cities arrive in the village.Mostovskaya by the appointed time independently or by pre-ordered transport. Then transfer all participants by off-road transport fromMostovskaya to the cordon "Zakan" (2.5 hours, 90 km.) to the beginning of the walking part of the route.
We have to walk 7 km from the cordon along the path leading through the fir forest. to the first shelter of the reserve, which is located on the subalpine glade in front of the Lower Imereti waterfall. The climb will be 600m.
day 02

After breakfast, we assemble the camp and set off on the route. On this day, we should see the purpose of our trip, but for this we still need to walk a little more than 2 km. with a climb of about 400m. Along the way, we will see two huge and beautiful waterfalls formed by the river.Imeretinka. The total height of all cascades of the Lower Imereti waterfall is about 120m, the Upper one is 60m. In case of hot weather, those who wish will be able to swim under one of these waterfalls and get an indescribable feeling!
Following the trail from the Lower Waterfall, we will start a steep climb and go around it to the right, after which we will leave the krivolesye into the area of alpine meadows with thickets of mountain tea. We will climb a huge gentle valley to the Upper Waterfall, go around it to the left and after 500 m. we will climb to the site of the second Imereti campsite, where we will spend the next overnight hike. After setting up the tents, taking with us food for lunch, we will go for a light walk to the lakes, which will only be 800m away.
day 03

The backpacks will take a break from us today. We will walk light all day and enjoy the beauty of the Imereti lakes, of which there are so many that not everyone has the strength to see them all. First, we will go up to the lake.Silence, and from there we will go up through the small lakes of the Riviera and Oz.Geographers to one of the most beautiful - Lake Bush, which is located at an altitude of 2800m.
It is distinguished by its winding shores and its bright blue color, which does not change in any weather.
The lake is named after researcher N.A. Bush, a famous botanist who studied the flora and glaciers of the Caucasus in the early twentieth century.
This is the deepest lake in the entire Imereti mountain range. Its depth is 24 m. Then, without losing altitude, we will traverse to another lake, the Celestial (2850m), which has an almost perfectly oval shape. From here, through the Celestial Pass, you can climb to Inpsi peak 3211, from where you can enjoy panoramas of all the lakes we have passed today and the valley of the Imeretinka River, as well as the peaks of Arkhyz and Dombay. From here you can also see the lakes that are located in the neighboring river valley.Damhurts and feed its left tributary, the river .Bright. These are lakes of Humanoids, Oblivion, and Impact. It is also possible to go down to them, but it would take another day. It's time for us to get back to camp.
day 04

After an early breakfast, we pack our tents and set off on our way back. Since it's only downhill now, we'll go all the way in one running day. And if we start the route early, we will be at the cordon for 14-15 hours. At the cordon, we will transfer to an SUV that will take us to Pskov. A bus will be waiting for the group departing from Minvody, which will take it to the airport/train station. Travel time is 3.5 hours, 260 km.
