Where are we going to live?
In Irkutsk, I try to accommodate my tourists in 19th-century mansions. So that you can feel the merchant spirit of our city. It is interesting to visit the past, drink tea from a samovar with dryers, walk on wooden floorboards, look at the street from a window with wooden architraves. It seems to me that in such hotels as the Listratova Apartment Building, Kupechesky Dvor, and Yakovlev, this will work out perfectly.
On Lake Baikal, I prefer proven options: hotels with sincere administrators, long-time familiar hosts, where it is cozy, warm, delicious and always welcome guests. I like the Lake Place Hotel in Olkhon, and I usually stay there with groups.

day 01
Olkhon Island

We will meet you at the airport or in the Irkutsk city center and immediately drive towards Lake Baikal to Olkhon. An island of wild landscapes, natural attractions and the energy of ancient shamanic lands.
The most delicious Buryat poses (buuzes, manti) are prepared here. And we will definitely stop there on the way. And we will also skate on the first perfect ice of Lake Baikal this year in the bays of the Small Sea!
At this time, you can still get to the island by ferry, crossing the Olkhon Gate Strait. The biggest feathered show can be seen here. Guests usually feed the seagulls, and they arrange a real bird market right in the air. These are the last days when the ferry is open.
Starting from January 1, we will return to the mainland by boat or on a Hivus hovercraft.
In the evening, a walking tour to Cape Burkhan and Shamanka Rock.

North of Olkhon - New Year's Eve Celebration

Do you often ride UAZ trucks? Namely, they famously drive around the Olkhon steppes on "tablets". We will use them to go on a tour of the northern part of the island on the last day of 2023.
The main attraction of Olkhon is its northern capes, which offer breathtaking views of the Glorious Sea - sacred Baikal. The most famous of them is the northern cape Khoboy.
The Holy Nose Peninsula (Buryatia) will be visible on the other side of the lake.
We will visit Cape Lyubov, Cape Three Brothers, and see Dasha Namdakov's sculpture "Keeper of Lake Baikal". Our drivers cook delicious fish soup from Baikal fish over a campfire.
We will see a sharp change in the landscapes of Olkhon: sand dunes, steppes with bays deeply embedded in the land, endless beaches, coniferous groves and harsh marble cliffs.
In the evening, we will have a New Year's Eve dinner at the hotel. The hostess prepares traditional New Year's dishes. Let's celebrate the New Year in a friendly company. Let's make wishes, because everything that is made up on Lake Baikal will surely come true!
day 03
South of the island

Have you heard about Baikal bubbles? Today we will look for them. The locals know the bays of the Southern part of the island, where they appear every year! We are waiting for the "Martian landscapes" of the island, the Dragon's Tooth rock complex, Cape Mare's Head and Lake Heart. From this part of Olkhon, you can see the magical island of Ogoy. There is a Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment on it, around which rituals are performed.
We consider the Kiss of Baikal cocktail and ice-hole diving to be prerequisites for the Baikal Baptism tradition, and today we will have both! We will spend the evening in a Russian sauna with a dip in Lake Baikal.

Return to Irkutsk

Baikal is alive and energetically powerful. Let's say goodbye to him today. In the morning we will walk to the Sarai beach, visit the chapel and the souvenir shop. Or just have a coffee with a view of the lake.
There is no highway around Lake Baikal. All routes to Lake Baikal are radial. That's why we're going to Irkutsk the same way we came here, crossing the Olkhon Gate Strait by boat or hovercraft. After the crossing, we transfer to the bus and go to Irkutsk. We have lunch on the way at a Buryat cafe. And after returning to Irkutsk, we will continue the evening at a local cocktail bar.
day 05
Taltsy - Listvyanka

Today Listvyanka is the most visited place on Lake Baikal. On the way, we will stop at the Taltsy Architectural and Ethnographic Museum. Let's look at the Siberian prison and the volost village: huts, courtyards, a mill, a paramedic's house and a parish school. We will tell you about the life of Siberians and local traditions.
Then we will have a walking tour to the Chersky Stone observation deck. We will take a bird's-eye view of Lake Baikal, 728 m above sea level, with a picturesque view of the source of the Angara River and the Shaman Stone.
For lunch, we try dishes from Baikal fish. Let's take a look at the fish market for a minute. And we go to the Baikal Museum to get acquainted with the history of its formation, flora, fauna and deep-sea research.

In Irkutsk, we will stay in the old merchant's apartment building Listratova, restored in 2018 in the style of wooden architecture of the tsarist era.
