Get back to nature and cross the highest mountain pass in Slovenia - Vršič 1611 m. One of the most beautiful rivers in Europe - the Soca - is an important natural treasure of the Triglav National Park. Justly called the Emerald Beauty, Soča river is famous for its green-blue colour, clarity and for the adrenaline options of kayaking, rafting, canyoning, hydrospeed. Visit Kobarid, which is mostly known for the Soča front, one of the First World War's most brutal frontlines. The events are well documented in the Kobarid museum. Kobarid is also descriebed in Ernest Hemingway's novel Farewell to Arms, based on Hemingway's own experience working as a volunteer. The most scenic drive starts in the vally and traces the Soča river, through the Julian Alps, following the 50 hairpin turns of the Vršič Pass on 1611 m. You will stop several time to see the amazing scenery, also at the Russian Chapel. The chapel is symbol of Russo-Slovene friendship and relationships. It was build by Russian prisoners of WWI during their construction of Vršič pass road. They builded the chapel becouse some of their mates died in a tragic avalanche. The pass road was renamed Ruska cesta (Russian Road) in July 2006. Stop for a short break at the picturesque Jasna Lake with stunning surrounding, don't forget to take a photo! The last stop is Kranjska Gora and Zelenci – place to get away from the city heat and to enjoy the mountains and fresh air. Zelenci natural resort, the beautiful green lake is home to many endangered animal and plant species, but also a spring of Sava Dolinka river
