Kronstadt Footstock

A footstock is a structure that was used to measure the height of sea level. The Kronstadt footstock was built in 1840 and is located on the abutment of the Blue Bridge, which spans the bypass canal. This footstock is the oldest footstock in the network of levelling posts of the World Ocean. All geographical maps are aligned to the starting point of the Kronstadt footstock.
