day 01
Khurzuk village - Ullu River -Khurzuk - Yenikol River

We will meet you at the Mineralnye Vody railway station, after which we will move to the village of Khurzuk, from where our route starts. Our journey begins in the Yenikol gorge, sandwiched between steep stone cliffs, along the bottom of which flow two mountain rivers Khurzuk and Yenikol. After walking a few kilometers along the foaming river, we will stop for the night.
The starting height is 1490 meters, the overnight height is 1620 meters, the climb is 120 meters, the distance traveled is 2.34 km.
day 02
Yenikol River - Yenikol Pass

In the morning we will continue our journey, and after crossing the Yenikol River, we will go to the pass with the same name. The altitude here is already more than two thousand meters, and along the way there are beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, we will go out to a cozy clearing with a bubbling spring, next to which we will set up our camp.
The height of the overnight stay is 2813 m, the climb is 1195 m, the distance traveled is 9.65 km.
day 03
Yenikol Pass - Syut-Jol trail - Chemart Pass - Perevalnaya River

In the morning, we are still gaining altitude, and after a short period of time, we will reach the Yenikol pass. Usually here you can find shepherds tending sheep and horses, from whom, if desired, you can buy homemade cheese and ayran. And our way will continue along the Syut – Jol trail to the Chemart pass, which lies at an altitude of 3132 meters above sea level. There is a source of the Perevalnaya River on the pass. We'll spend the night near it.
The altitude of the overnight stay is 2960 meters, up 320 meters, down 170 meters, the distance traveled is 8.12 km.
day 04
Perevalnaya River - Chemartkol River - Buruntash Pass - Kyzylkol River

When we wake up, we move on, and along the Perevalnaya River we will come to a colorful gorge, beyond which the slopes of Mount Elbrus begin. The Chemartkola River flows from the glacier encircling the peak. The places here are fantastic. After admiring the enchanting paintings, we will slightly lower the altitude, and after a short time, we will reach the Kamenny Cape or Buruntash pass, with a height of 3086 meters. The cape serves as the gateway to the Kyzylkol Valley, which lies beyond it. The river of the same name flows through the valley, and we will stop next to it.
The height of the overnight stay is 2920 meters, the climb is 120 meters, the descent is 170 m, the distance traveled is 8.28 km.
day 05
Kyzylkol River - Irakhitsyrt Plateau - Sultan Waterfall - Jyly-Su springs

Along the Kyzylkol River, we come to the all-round Irahisyrt plateau, picturesquely complementing the ice caps of Elbrus with colors. After crossing the plateau, we will get to an amazing place: the Sultan waterfall, plunging its waters, rumbling from a height of almost 40 meters, and a little further from it the thermal mineral waters of Jila – Su, in which you can take baths and swim
The parking lot is 2390 meters high, 530 meters up, and the distance traveled is 10.08 km.
day 06
North Karakaysky Pass - Islamchat River

Today we will start with the conquest of the North Karakaysky pass, which lies at 2889 above sea level, beyond which the Kara Kaya, or Black Rock, rock massif begins. It will take us most of the day to conquer the pass, and after lunch, we will go out to the Islamchat River, around which there are many magnificent meadows where herds of horses graze.
The altitude of the overnight stay is 2635 meters, up is 499 meters, down is 254 meters, the distance traveled is 8.54 km.
day 07
Kirtykush Pass - Kirtyk River

From the Islamchat River, we will climb to the next Kirtykush pass. Its height is impressive – 3232 meters, the pass is covered with snow most of the year. After climbing the pass, we will enjoy magnificent views of the Main Caucasian Mountain Range, the proud peak of Koshtanau and, of course, the beautiful Elbrus. And then we will descend to the Kirtyk River, near which we will stay overnight in a small cozy clearing.
The altitude of the overnight stay is 2000 meters, the climb is 800 meters, the descent is 840 meters, the distance traveled is 15 km.
day 08
Kirtyk River - Upper Baksan village

Our hike ends, and along our constant companion, the Kirtyk River, we enter the village of Verkhny Baksan. Here we board a registered transport and go to Mineralnye Vody, where we will arrive at about 3 p.m.
Down 472 meters, the distance traveled is 5.91 km.
