Palazzo Vecchio: getting to know the symbol of Florence
From 98€ per group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 1.5 hours
* Palazzo Vecchio was built in the 13th century for the Florentine government. As the center of power, the palace performed various functions: it was both the mayor's office and the residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. On the tour, I will tell you about the architecture of the building, the decor of its magnificent halls and the great Renaissance masters who created here. You will also hear the history of the town hall and realize its role in Italy's past.
What awaits you:
• You will find out what was in Piazza della Signoria before the Palazzo Vecchio was built.
• Get to know the story of the strange 95-meter tower and find out who was detained in it.
• Consider the magnificent Hall of the Five Hundred, which two giants of the Italian Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, once tried to paint.
• You will also have to evaluate the decoration of the Audience Hall and the Hall of Lilies.
• Visit the room where the ruling de' Medici dynasty kept their most valuable possessions. Today you will see geographical maps and the famous globe here.
• In the Chapel of the Priors, I will tell you how the life of the Florentine parliamentarians was arranged.
• In addition, I will show the funeral mask of Dante Alighieri, the studio of Fanziscus I de' Medici, connected to the secret rooms of the palace, and the office of Niccolo Machiavelli.
