Estate of A.I. Lobanov-Rostovsky
Detailed description
The Baroque stone manor was built in the 17th and 18th centuries by merchant Fyodor Kozmin. In the mid-1760s, General-in-Chief P. I. Panin became the new owner. He rebuilt the house, expanded it with side wings, and updated the facade decor. In 1791, the mansion was acquired by Prince Alexander Ivanovich Lobanov-Rostovsky. During his lifetime, the building was rebuilt again. The central facade was decorated with a Corinthian columned portico with a large attic with a semicircular mezzanine window. In the late 1820s, the "School of Drawing in relation to Arts and Crafts", established by Count S. G. Stroganov, opened in the building. In 1836, the manor was bought by Danish mechanics brothers Nikolai and Johann Butenop. With them, chimes appeared on the mezzanine. In 1874, the Lipgarts brothers became the owners. New buildings were built in the courtyard, in which the school was opened. After 1917, the mansion housed a hospital, then the Moscow Consumer Commune and the Cooperative Council. In 1987, the reconstruction of the building began, which was completed only in the mid-2000s.
