Highway tour on the way to Peterhof
Peterhof is a suburban imperial residence in the vicinity of St. Petersburg, founded by Peter I in honor of the victory of the Russian State in the Northern War. The unique appearance of the "Russian Versailles" was formed over the course of three centuries — from the laying of the first stone in 1712 to the present day, when after the German occupation it had to be literally rebuilt from the ruins.
Grand Peterhof Palace Tour
Majestic and refined, the Grand Peterhof Palace is the center of the Peterhof ensemble's composition, forming around itself a harmonious system of alleys, architectural structures and fountains. The existing appearance of the palace has been taking shape for almost a century and a half. In the era of Peter the Great, it was a small two-story building, the width of which did not exceed the width of the Grand Cascade, it was called the Upper or Mountain Chambers and served for receptions and celebrations. Currently, the Grand Palace is a unique historical and art museum with a collection of about three and a half thousand exhibits, including paintings and porcelain, fabrics and unique furniture, as well as personal belongings of Russian rulers.
Lower Park Tour
The picturesque Nizhny Park, spread over 112 hectares on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, is one of the most visited places in St. Petersburg. The uniqueness of the park lies not only in its palatial architecture, abundance of sculptures and fountains, but also in the original solutions of the garden and park complex. The park was created by Jean-Baptiste Leblon, a talented student of the creator of the Versailles gardens, A. Lenotre, and retains all the features of its French originals. Each alley of the park ends with either a palace or a fountain, not a single detail or garden decoration is hidden from the gaze of the guests.
