Peterhof. The Triumph of Peter the Great
From 17 500₽ per private group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 6 hours
* Peter's main country residence, Peterhof, was an integral part of Greater St. Petersburg, its logical continuation. Creating a residence by the water, and even during the ongoing clashes with the Swedes, even if with an emerging advantage, is quite risky. Nevertheless, Peter decides to create a residence that would surpass the main park ensemble of that era - the French Versailles.
For Peter himself, a rather ascetic man by nature, the creation of the residence was not a personal matter, but a state matter. Peterhof is a true triumph of the young emperor and Russian weapons, not only over the defeated Sweden, for which allegories in all forms are represented in the park, but also the triumphant return of Russia to European civilization.
In order to fully understand Peter's plan, it is best to come to Peterhof on a sunny, warm day during the meteor navigation period.
