Duration: 3.5 hours
* My tour is a three—hour daily routine of a man in a besieged city. A day filled with household chores and the worries of completely different people trapped in the blockade. We will walk from the Blacksmith Market to the Radio House, Eliseevsky, the Musical Comedy Theater, the Philharmonic, finishing at the Neva River. And let's collect a picture of the daily life of Leningraders during one of the most terrible periods of trials.
What awaits you
The everyday life of Leningraders
Against the background of the well-known horrors that we know about the war and the blockade, we began to forget that other events took place in the lives of the townspeople. People worked, gave birth and taught children, hosted graduation parties, made scientific discoveries, wrote music and poetry of world significance, just went to concerts or, cornyly, to a hairdresser. But all this was done in spite of the monstrous circumstances of the blockade life. During our walk, I will tell you about the daily feat of the residents, without separating it from the well-known facts of the blockade.
Voices of war
The route will pass through the places that Leningrad residents gathered every day during the years of the blockade — they will show us the daily life of the city. We will get acquainted with the biographies of people whose blockaded destinies reflected the lives of the majority. We also learn about those who have built their well-being and considerable capital on the suffering of people. Little-known facts about Zhukov's special plans for Leningrad in the event of its fall will be revealed to us. We will hear the real "Voices of War" preserved by Leningrad Radio. And thanks to them, we will feel what spiritually nourished the inhabitants, we will hear the famous Leningrad metronome and the ear-splitting siren of air raids. I'll also show you photos that will help you feel the spirit of the besieged city.
