After the expulsion of the Swedes in 1710, Peter the Great transferred the estate to Ekaterina Alekseevna, his future wife. But only Elizabeth Petrovna was able to turn it into a luxurious imperial residence with the main pearl – the Great Catherine Palace, built according to the architect Braunstein in 1718-1724. The Great Catherine Palace is a unique architectural creation with stucco decorations, majestic sculptures and inlays.
