From 50€ per group
Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 3 hours
* • There are many amazing things here. Starting with the fact that the collection began to take shape back in the 16th century, when a very educated Pope from the Farnese family appeared on the throne in the Vatican, who was able to appreciate the importance of the finds in the Roman Forum and initiated a general fascination with antiquity.
• It is also a miracle that the artifacts discovered during the excavations of cities that disappeared as a result of the natural disaster of the 1st century A.D. did not disappear into the private collections of European aristocrats of the 18th century, although there was still no understanding of what is the real historical value. Scientists have put a lot of work into creating this unique exhibition.
We will begin our journey through the museum by exploring the collection of marbles from the era of Ancient Rome, using sculptural portraits to assess the personal characteristics of people who shaped the fate of the empire.
Next, we will visit the halls where the originals of the extraordinary quality of the mosaics discovered during the excavations are presented.
We will visit the famous Secret Cabinet, replete with exhibits telling about the eroticism of ancient society.
An amazing collection of frescoes, which allows us to better understand the structure of life of that era and, of course, the exhibition of household items complements the impression of the life of people of the 1st century AD.
