Description
Type: Single-day activity
Duration: 2 hours
* Hello, dear tourist! I welcome you to Chita, the capital of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
The history of the area where the capital of the region is now located is more than 300 years old, and the history of the city itself is more than 170.
Our land is amazing, here you will find the endless taiga, where no human foot has set foot, the expanses of steppes, the clear waters of rivers and lakes, and even a real desert. But I would like to start my acquaintance with the capital of our beautiful region, Chita!
The journey will start from the central square of the city, named after Lenin. Along the way, we will meet architectural monuments from all periods of history, from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. I will tell you what path Chita went through before becoming the capital. How the city "lives", what happens in it, what the citizens are doing.
From the moment of its appearance to the present day, the railway has been a powerful factor in the development of the region. The history of the Transsib is an important part of the history of the city, so after the square, our stop will be at the train station. Then we will walk along Amurskaya Street, which was the central street until the 1930s, so today there is a concentration of architectural monuments of the 19th and 20th centuries. Next, we go to the Theater Square, we walk to it along Amurskaya and Anokhina streets, these are the first central streets of our city, I tell their story. We approach the Theater, we discuss theater, culture and the loss of the former city school.
After that, we go to the Theater Square, to the intersection of January 9 and Anokhin streets, where the authentic houses of Chita merchants, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, preserving the stories of the city's merchant past, have been preserved.
Decembristov Square, formerly known as Starosobornaya Square, let's discuss the change of names and the purpose of the square. And also the fate of the Decembrist D.I. Zavalishin, whose house was located next to the square.
The tour ends at the Decembrist Museum, we will walk around the building with you, talk about awarding Chita the status of a city, the decree on this was read out, just at the walls of the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk Church. You can visit the museum on your own, or go further to explore the city on your own.
