* First, we will visit the St. John the Theologian Monastery of Krypetsk, founded in the 15th century by St. Sava among impenetrable swamps. The beautiful ensemble of the monastery, created in the era of John the Terrible and Metropolitan Macarius and consonant with it, has been preserved. We will climb the high bell tower, which offers a beautiful view of the surroundings, and reach the Holy Lake, which, according to legend, was dug by the reverend founder of the monastery himself. There you can not only get water, but also take a dip. You will learn about the history of the monastery, full of various events, about the outstanding people who lived in the monastery or were associated with it. For example, about A. L. Ordin-Nashchokin— a talented Russian diplomat of the 17th century, an outstanding economist and statesman who took monastic vows at the monastery. Then we will move to another monastery that has existed since the 15th century — Spaso-Eleazarovsky. It was founded in a remote forest, in a secluded place, by St. Euphrosyne. Many of his students became renowned founders of other monasteries in Pskov land. The Spaso-Eleazar Monastery was known for the high level of education of its monks. Among them is Elder Philotheus, famous for his epistle to the Grand Duke of Moscow, where he calls Moscow the Third Rome. In the monastery cathedral we will see revered icons, among which is the famous monument of Pskov icon painting — the miraculous icon of the 14th century the Savior of Eleazar. After that, we will go to the Snetogorsky monastery, which has existed since the 13th century. The main cathedral of the monastery, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin (1311), became the founder of the Pskov school of architecture and fresco painting. The main treasure of the monastery is the world-famous frescoes created in 1313 by Pskov craftsmen. They are 60% preserved! In their emotional and expressive intensity, their free pictorial style, and their theological revelations, they break out of the Byzantine models. The cathedral is included in the UNESCO List.
