* Today's tour will begin over the abyss of the Kasakh River gorge, where the ancient Armenian monastery of Saghmosavank is located. Saghmosavank is one of the most beautiful and historically significant monasteries in Armenia, located in a picturesque valley, on a high cliff above the Kasakh River, just 20 km from Yerevan. The monastery was founded in the 13th century and is an example of Armenian medieval architecture with unique cross-shaped church buildings. During the tour, visitors will be able to enjoy not only a spiritual atmosphere, but also magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and gorge. This is a great place for history and nature lovers and a place of power! Next, we will have a short stop at the monument of the Armenian alphabet, where everyone can find their letter and take a memorable photo with it. The complex includes sculptures of 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet, as well as monuments of great Armenian thinkers. All the letters and statues are made of Armenian tuff. The Amberd Fortress ("fortress in the clouds") is located on a rocky slope at an altitude of 2,100 meters, protected on both sides by deep gorges at the confluence of the Amberd and Arkashen rivers. The only road leading to Amberd runs along mountain serpentines, which makes the fortress impregnable in winter - the path is covered with a thick layer of snow for many kilometers. *A visit to the Amberd Fortress is possible only during the period of May-mid-November. Next, the group will go to the winery or, as we call it, the Wine Castle “VOSKEVAZ” (which means “Golden Vine” in Armenian). The winery was founded back in 1932. With all the modern innovations, it has carefully preserved most of its authentic elements, including the buildings. Of particular interest is the treasury of the plant, which contains artifacts and evidence that Armenia is the cradle of winemaking. The group will have a tasting of three types of local wine at the factory.
