St. Anna Annenkirche Evangelical Lutheran Church
Detailed description
On July 20, 1775, during the reign of Empress Catherine II, a stone church was built according to the design of architect Yuri Felten. The facade was made in the form of a semicircular rotunda with a small dome on a hexagonal drum above the Ionic columns. In 1935, the church was closed, and in 1939, the architects converted it into the Spartak cinema. Sunday services in the church resumed in March 1992 and continued until September 1997. In February 2002, the city authorities decided to return the Lutheran church. At the end of the same year, it burned down and was in this condition for 6 years. In 2010, the facade of the building was renovated, and three years later the first Christmas service was held.
