Assignation Bank
Detailed description
The current building of St. Petersburg State University of Economics, located along the Griboyedov Canal, was originally built on the site of a burnt-out wooden marine market for the needs of an Assignation Bank. Construction took place between 1783 and 1790. Since then, the building has changed its purpose several times, but has retained its architectural features, including columns, a preserved door to the vault, and a grand staircase. You can get in and see everything with your own eyes only on open days.
