Apartment house of T.V. Makarova

The apartment house of T. V. Makarova, designed by A. Kolb, was conceived in the Renaissance and Baroque at the same time. It was built in 1879-1880. The land where the apartment building is located has belonged to the Admiralty since the 18th century, but after a while the land was divided and sold for development. The plot was bought in 1877 by the wife of adviser T.V.Makarov, and after some time she sold it to an insurance and credit agency. And construction of an apartment building for employees began on the site. The most elite apartments were on the second and third floors.
