Apartment house of Konstantin Ivanovich Kapustin
Detailed description
The house is located near the Egyptian Bridge, on the corner of Fontanka Embankment and Klimova Lane. The house was built for the construction contractor K. I. Kapustin in 1910-1912. The building differs significantly from the traditional St. Petersburg building in its Northern Art Nouveau appearance, tiled roof, numerous turrets, bay windows and balconies. The house is designed in large shapes, without small details. Only the forceps have a barely noticeable relief. The facade seems to be divided into details by two colors. The verticals - the corners and the bay window - are highlighted with lighter plaster. Kapustin rented out almost all the apartments, and he occupied apartment No. 9 on the fifth floor. There was a garage for his car in the courtyard. Konstantin Ivanovich Kapustin was a hereditary honorary citizen of St. Petersburg, an active figure in Russian motorism and motorsport, and participated in many motorsport competitions. I traveled a lot by car in Russia and Western Europe.
