Church of the Holy Trinity in Trinity
Detailed description
In 1759 and 1760, a two-story stone house and a church in the name of St. Sergius of Radnezh were built; in 1875, the house was partially rebuilt in the Russian style. Before the Napoleonic invasion, the church shone with its interior; after the loss of the residence of the Moscow bishops in the Kremlin after 1815, the territory of the Trinity Metropolitanate became the residence of the bishops and the title of the Holy Archimandrite of the Sergius Trinity Lavra. It was designated as the residence of the Metropolitan of Moscow, and since 1917 became the residence of the newly elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. In the early 1930s, the farm was liquidated, and the church was closed. During the preparation for the Olympic Games, the temple was restored externally, but its real restoration began in our days, when in 1993 it returned to the bosom of the church. Services were then held in the chapel of Our Lady of the Vladimir Icon.
