Estate of merchants Kazantsev

One of the oldest residential complexes, created in the area of Alexandrovsky and Arkhangelskaya streets, near the Tsarsky Bridge, was built in 1820-1824 with the participation of architect M. Malakhov. There were two- and three-storey stone houses, the facades of which, along with fences and gates, ran along the red line, as well as into the depths of the garden. Both classic-shaped houses, characterized by a large scale, still dominate the development of this part of the street. The main two-storey house has an elongated volume with a rounded porch on the east side, which once housed the chapel of the former congregation. The facade facing the main street has an unframed pediment, and the overhangs are framed by Ionic pilasters. Above the entrance on the east facade, in addition to the usual rectangular window, there is a semicircular "Italian" window.
