The main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University
Detailed description
This building is the tallest of the seven Stalinist skyscrapers. It was built in 1949-1953. The height of the high-rise is 183.2 meters. The heart of the main building of Moscow State University is a 36-storey tower. Two wings with a height of 18 floors extend from it. They also give rise to twelve-storey buildings.
The exterior of the building is covered with natural stone — marble and granite. The red lines on the facade of the Moscow State University are a feature of the university and are made taking into account the golden ratio.
The tall spire that towers over the university is its hallmark. Its golden luster is provided by the yellow amalgamated glass cladding.
An unusual feature of the MSU building is the huge clock. They are the largest in Russia. The dial has a diameter of 9 meters and a length of 4.2 meters, the clock is 3.7 meters. Since 1957, an electronic mechanism has been used to control the watch.
