The column is part of the architectural ensemble of the main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University. It has a similar paired column, which is located on the sides of the main entrance to the university. It is a rostral column decorated with socialist banners. Many people find similarities with the rostral columns on the spit of Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg.

Колонна является частью архитектурного ансамбля главного здания Московского государственного университета имени М.В.Ломоносова. Имеет аналогичную парную колонну, с которой располагается по бокам от главного входа в университет. Представляет собой ростральную колонну, украшенную социалистическими знаменами. Многие находят сходство с ростральными колоннами на стрелке Васильевского острова в Санкт-Петербурге.
