Semenov House - The House of the State Secretariat of the Grand Duchy of Finland
Detailed description
The building was built in 1796. The owner of the house was architect V.I. Bazhenov. In 1808, the house was rebuilt by order of the new owner, merchant N. Semenov, and in 1826 it was sold to the State Secretariat of the Grand Duchy of Finland. His services are located here: the passport expedition and the office. In 1845, the building was reconstructed. Architecturally, it is a stone building with three floors in the spirit of classicism. The facade of the first floor with a central arch is decorated with rustication, the cornice of the third floor is completed with a triangular pediment. In 1954, the building became the property of the Soviet Union.
