Periodic table of D.I. Mendeleev
Detailed description
The sculptural monument to the Russian chemist D. I. Mendeleev began its history in 1932. It is located near the House of Weights and Measures (All-Russian Institute of Metrology). D. I. Mendeleev in this composition is depicted sitting in an armchair, legs crossed in thought. There is an open book on his lap - another scientific work of the scientist. In his left hand is a cigarette, which, despite its apparent invisibility, is perhaps the only memorable image in which he smokes a cigarette. A stack of books and papers is scattered haphazardly under the chair, one of which has the inscription "Temporary Book of the General Directorate of Weights and Measures, 1894." On the wall, behind Mendeleev, is his table.
