House of Civil Engineers
Detailed description
The House of the Society of Civil Engineers was built in 1901-1902 by architect I. Y. Moshinsky. A fireplace decorated with majolica was installed in the lobby of the house, the authorship of which is attributed to the famous artist A. Ya. Golovin. There were furnished rooms in the house. The hall of the building was often used as a theater and was rented out to artists, touring companies and educational institutions. After the Civil War, there was a dormitory in the house, and in 1921 the club of the Society of Civil Engineers was opened. Among the speakers at the club was the poet S. A. Yesenin.
