Mansion of A.P. Shuvalov - Mansion of E.A. Vorontsova-Dashkova
Detailed description
Built in the middle of the 19th century, the mansion was acquired by Count I. I. Vorontsov-Dashkov in the early 1910s. The three-storey facade of the mansion retains eclectic features, mainly including Baroque elements. The interior of the mansion was designed by I.A. Fomin in 1913-1914 and is made in the neoclassical style. Only one room of the prince's study has been preserved. One wall has a deep four-columned portico with two rows of pale yellow artificial marble columns with white ionic column heads, a vaulted ceiling and a heavy white entablature. The end walls of this portico are decorated with niches of the same marble with white shells. On the opposite wall is a small flat arch decorated with pilasters. The elliptical ceiling has been preserved, decorated with a trapezoid and diamond-shaped coffers. It is painted in white, purple and bright blue. The arches of the portico are similarly decorated. These bright color accents look great against the background of neutral, pale gray-brown walls.
