The Morozov Mansion
Detailed description
On January 22, 1862, the Kokorevskaya Art Gallery opened in this house: in the central room on the second floor there was the famous Tivoli restaurant with a winter and summer garden, and in the summer there was a "belvedere with a beautiful view of Moscow." The gallery lasted only three years. The finances of Kokorev's business deteriorated, and he was forced to sell the mansion and then the gallery. The mansion was inherited by Timofey and Maria Morozov, the parents of the famous philanthropist Savva Morozov. They redecorated the mansion and built an Old Believer house church on one of the upper floors. Maria Fyodorovna lived much longer than her husband, had a fortune of 30 million and remained the owner of the house until 1911.
