The Emerald Tower

The Nadprudnaya Tower is located near the Streletskaya guardhouse in the Novodevichy Convent of the Mother of God of Smolensk. The building was built at the end of the 17th century. It is a round brick tower with arched windows and an observation deck at the top. The tower got its name due to the fact that a Large Novodevichy Pond is located next to it. The tower, along with the monastery's ensemble, is an architectural monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
