House of N.G. Faleev
Detailed description
The house was purchased by the city architect in 1895 to use as the basis for the construction of a new building. Historians have noted a harmonious mix of architectural styles in the forms of the mansion. The facade of the building is decorated with stucco orthogonal ornaments passing over the windows, which are framed by a three-dimensional portico with a sink in the center. The roof decor consists of winged lions perched on pedestals and a stucco decoration in the center, which is the emblem of engineers. After the revolution, the house was nationalized and given to the Commissariat of Foreign Affairs. The elements of the interior have been preserved in their original form: mosaic floors and tiled stoves, stucco decoration of the walls. The embassy is currently located in the building.
