Water tower with engine room and boiler room
Detailed description
Until the middle of the 19th century, there was no centralized water supply in the city, people provided water for themselves. Therefore, in the period from 1859 to 1863, the construction of a massive water lifting device with a tower began. It is a tall five-storey red brick building. The massive octagonal pillar looks like a tower of medieval city fortifications. In construction, the architect adhered to the Romanesque architectural style. The tower has six tiers, which are separated by cornice projections. The facade of the building is decorated with arched window openings, which are framed by projecting arched pilasters. At the base of the tower there is a single-storey building, which housed boiler rooms.
