Detailed description

The building was built on a plot owned by the stalmaster V.V. Dolgorukov, and after construction was sold to Prince Peter Georgievich Oldenburgsky himself. Construction began in 1831 and lasted 2 years. The architect was the famous S. L. Shustov, who created the monument in the style of the era of Russian classicism. The Prince of Oldenburg's cottage on Kamenny Island is located on a high platform with 2 ramps, and has a square shape, in the center there is a hall surrounded by a large number of living rooms. The central hall is decorated with floral elements, it has a shallow dome, and is divided by special pilasters into 2 spacious tiers. The 3 facades are decorated with Doric columns and porticos. The exit from the 2nd floor was through a balcony supported by columns. The main facade had large semi-circular windows. The cottage burned repeatedly and part of the interior was destroyed. In 1989, restoration work was completed, but the cottage became functional only in the form of architectural heritage.
