House of Astronomers
Detailed description
In 1831, the astronomical observatory of Moscow State University was built on Krasnaya Presnya. The observatory includes a complex of buildings: an observatory, a professor's house, towers for small telescopes, laboratories and utility rooms. Previously, the place belonged to the Greek merchant Zoya Pavlovich Zosimov. Before his death, he wished to donate a plot of land for Moscow State University. There is also an apartment building for astronomers, where people of this profession still live. The observatory is now a museum of history and astronomy.
