Currently, the Marble Palace is an architectural monument of early classicism, which was built in 1768 by the Italian architect Antonio Rinaldi commissioned by Empress Catherine II. Marble of various grades was used for wall cladding and interiors. On the territory of the building you can see unique interiors, chandeliers and sculptures. In particular, the works of the famous sculptor of the XVIII century Fedot Shubin.
At the same time, in the first half of the 19th century, the interiors were reconstructed, which were created by architect Alexander Bryullov. The grand dukes lived in it, among them the grandson of Catherine II, Admiral General Konstantin Nikolaevich Romanov and his son Konstantin. He was a poet and translator under the pseudonym "K. R.". His apartments on the ground floor of the palace are still preserved and are available for a private tour.
