Zoological Museum
Detailed description
Since its opening in 1888, under the leadership of Nikolai Feofanovich Kashchenko, the first professor of zoology in Siberia, systematic replenishment of collections related to the scientific study of Siberian fauna has begun. The expeditions and research were conducted by such renowned scientists as Professor G.E. Johansen, Professor M.D. Lutsky, Professor V.V. and others. Their names are inscribed in the history of the museum's formation and development. Subsequently, scientific research by university zoologists expanded the museum's collection to include various types of zoological collections: stuffed animals, carcasses, skins, wet preparations, skeletons and micro-preparations. Currently, the museum has collections of mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, fish, lower chordates and invertebrates. These collections are used in the educational, scientific and educational activities of the museum.
