Cast-iron pavement
Detailed description
This is a unique cast iron pavement, the only one of its kind in Russia, and in Europe you can find only a couple of analogues. In 1860, the first plots of land paved with openwork lace appeared. The idea was brought from America to strengthen the swampy soil on which multi-ton naval guns were carried. It turned out to be successful, so soon an entire pavement was laid out in this way. During the Great Patriotic War, part of the pavement was dismantled for mine hulls.
