Traimit Temple

Wat Traimit is an elegant, multi-level, white and gold temple located at the very beginning of Yaowarat Road. The main attraction of Wat Traimit is not only its beautiful architecture, but also a huge pure gold Buddha sitting inside – the largest in the world. This 5-meter 5.5-ton statue has been hidden for a long time under a layer of plaster, presumably made in the 13th-14th centuries. The gold hidden under them was discovered by chance only in 1955.
