The house of the workers' association Trudkoopstroy
Detailed description
A building in the Khamovniki district in Moscow. One of the initial completed projects of communal housing, along with its own apartments, as well as single utility rooms. An exceptional example of a combination of constructivist building styles, as well as early modern times. The only surviving building in the capital is the work of architect Wilhelm Zimmer. The most striking part of the house was its roof, its various sizes, as well as chimneys of various shapes, gave the building a touch of the early European new style. Residents of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors received amenities such as running water, electricity, individual kitchens, and bathrooms. In the basement there was a shared laundry room along with ironing, as well as a drying room, boiler room, and utility rooms. The attic was given over to a "corridor-type" dormitory, along with shared kitchens and bathrooms.
