The Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov Museum-Reserve occupies the premises of a building that is an architectural monument of the late 19th century. It is a two-storey brick corner building. The facades are decorated with elements of eclecticism and Gothic styles. The author of the project was architect Nikolai Matveevich Sokolov. The roof of the corner part of the building is crowned by a pointed tower. Before the revolution, the house belonged to the Martin brothers. At the beginning of the 21st century, the building was transferred to the museum, whose exposition introduces visitors to the writer's work. In addition, the museum's halls are used for creative meetings, literary evenings, and master classes.
