The guest house of N.P. Sheremetev
Detailed description
The guest house of N.P. Sheremetev was built in 1803-1810 in the classical style. The building was designed by architect E.S. Nazarov. He highlighted the central part of the house with a laconic portico with double columns. In 1803, the new architect Giacomo Quarenghi took over the patronage of the construction. He rebuilt the portico and replaced it with a semicircular colonnade. Figures of evangelists were installed in the building near the niches, and the facade was crowned with a belvedere. The front yard was decorated with the side wings of the house. The grand opening of the building took place on June 28, 1810, but the owner of the house did not live to see this event. N.P. Sheremetev was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the first degree for the construction of the building. The orphanage served as an educator during the wars and revolutions. In 1919, the Moscow Ambulance Station began to be located in the building. Since 1923, the building of the N.V. Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine has been operating here. In 2006, the building was restored, and the house returned to its original historical appearance.
