Miansarova 's House
Detailed description
The house was built in 1908-1911. A massive five-storey building in the style of neo-Russian Art Nouveau. The building has a rectangular shape, one of the corners is accentuated by a tower with a hipped roof and a weather vane. The roof volume is gable-sided and barrel-shaped, typical of ancient Russian architecture. Due to artificial light blades and green inter-window strands, the facades are separated, which gives a more modern look. The house is richly decorated with colorful tiles. The polychrome majolica frieze on the fourth floor creates a contrast with the green, white and yellow glazed bricks and kokoshnik cladding in the upper part of the facade, giving brightness and color to the composition. Some of the tiles repeat the tile decor of the Yaroslavl Church of John the Baptist. The ground floor is made of marble, the central part is decorated with a three-part tiled panel, windows of various sizes are decorated with ceramic platbands. The ground floor was occupied by shops and a tavern, above there were apartments and the Riga Hotel. In 1960, a one-story wing was added to the house, and thirty-four years later it was expanded with a five-story addition with an attic. Since 2003, the house has been owned by the telecommunications company Mobile TeleSystems. The building was completed with wrought-iron canopies, the original doors were restored, the roof and engineering systems were updated.
