The apartment house of the merchant G.Ya. Kistov
Detailed description
The former apartment building of G. Ya. Kistov was built in 1914. Kistov is a large Donskoy merchant and timber merchant. During the First World War, the house was rented as an artillery brigade depot. After that, various government agencies were housed in the building for 10 years. In 1935, a decree was issued stating that the house was transferred to Rostov State University. The corner part of the facade is highlighted by three semi-columns of the Ionic order. The facade is vertically divided by means of brackets and semicircular bay windows. The facade is decorated with stucco emblems, brackets, balconies and cornices. The architecture of the building combines elements of neoclassicism and Art Nouveau. The building is still the Main building of the SFU.
