Detailed description
The Nizhny Novgorod County Zemstvo council was built in 1858-1859 in a brick style. The ensemble of the district included the arrest house and the main house. The arrest house was built in the 19th century. It is a stone red brick two-storey building. Before the revolution, people were imprisoned here for minor offenses. On the second floor there were rooms where Nizhny Novgorod residents could pray and think about what they had done. The ceilings in the corridor were decorated with paintings depicting angels. In Soviet times and now there are communal apartments here.
