The mansion of S.K. Rimskaya-Korsakova
Detailed description
The history of the building dates back to the 1830s, when the house was completely demolished as a result of the demolition and reconstruction of the surrounding buildings. At the same time, between 1804 and 1807, the facade was compositionally completed. Several houses of the first half of the 19th century adjoin this building, which is unusual for the neighborhood of these houses and is a sign of the prestige of the area in the early 19th century. Four neighboring houses demonstrate a variety of decorative and architectural techniques, without striving for stylistic purity. At the same time, the cornices of the houses are at the same height. In 1890, the need to locate shops on the ground floor and the need for premises was great for the reconstruction of the entire complex. In the 1950s and 1960s, the interior was renovated, and in 1974, a scientific restoration of the building was carried out. In 2000, the building was demolished, leaving the facade intact, and a restaurant was opened in it.
