The building of the Moscow State Savings Banks
Detailed description
Architect I. Ivanov-Shits began construction of a gray building with a neo-Greek rotunda for the Main Moscow Savings Bank in 1902. However, due to the revolution, the construction was completed only in 1920. The house looks like an ancient Greek temple due to the semicircular portico that forms the corner of the building. Although the building cannot be classified as Art Nouveau, it has neoclassical features. The savings bank may seem like an impregnable castle due to its monumentality and gray color. However, this building did not immediately begin to play the role of a bank. At various times, this building belonged to various owners, including retired Captain I. Bobrykin and his children (since the 1730s). At the moment, the corner building of Ivanov-Shits is occupied by Petrocomerts Bank.
