Pokrovskaya Tower
Detailed description
The Pokrovskaya Tower is one of the nine surviving towers of the Novgorod Kremlin. The Volkhov River flows nearby. The height of the brick part is 18 meters, crowned by a wooden tent of 13 meters. It begins its history in 1305. The current form, after restoration, was created at the end of the 17th century, and was used as a women's prison and an almshouse. The building is included in the World Heritage List. Nearby you can see the houses of the servants of St. Sophia Cathedral and the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve.
